The guy who actually shows up.
I've been repairing appliances for more than a decade, and I've run MaxCo on my own since 2022. Rogers Park has been home since 2015.
Small on purpose.
MaxCo is about as small as a business gets: just me, driving around the North Side in my hybrid, fixing things. No dispatcher, no call center, and no technician you've never met showing up at your door.
Keeping it small means the person you talk to on the phone is the person who diagnoses the problem, orders the part, and comes back to finish the job. It also leaves room for my kids and a life outside work, which is how I want it.

A home full of life.
When I'm not fixing appliances, I'm usually spending time with my kids, taking care of our pets, or tinkering with something around the house.
I've always liked working with my hands and figuring out how things work. At home, that means building planted aquariums and terrariums, creating little ecosystems for fish, shrimp, and all kinds of plants. I love watching everything grow and seeing these little worlds come to life.
We've also got quite the collection of fur and fin babies: cats, fish, and shrimp. Furry, fishy, whatever they may be, they're all family around here.
Some of them are just passing through, too. I foster animals and help find them good homes.
Between raising my kids, looking after our pets, and keeping all these little ecosystems running, there's never really a dull moment.
I guess I've always been someone who enjoys taking care of things, figuring out what's wrong when something isn't working, and putting in the effort to make it right.
Whether it's an old appliance or a planted aquarium, there's something satisfying about seeing things working the way they should.
At the end of the day, being a full-time single parent and having a home full of life is what matters most to me.

A little patience can save an appliance.
I like the problem-solving side of this work. I'm really good at saving appliances at the end of their life. A part that's no longer made isn't always the end of the road. A few jobs I'm proud of:
- The dishwasher with no replacement latch. The part had been discontinued, so I repaired the old latch instead.
- The washer nobody had a board for. I tracked down a used one and kept a family's machine running.
- The "pricey board" that wasn't. Another company wanted to replace an expensive board in a washer-dryer. It really needed a thorough cleaning.
- The old Thermador range. It needed a sail switch that isn't made anymore. I kept it cooking anyway.
- Downdraft exhausts. I've saved more than one that was at the end of its life.
- A ton of Fisher & Paykel dishwashers. Ones that other companies didn't know what to do with.
And when the honest answer is to replace it, I'll tell you that too.
Your dog will probably like me more than you do.
Dogs, cats, whoever's home: no need to lock anybody up on my account. I have a crew of my own at home, so I get it. Every dog here belongs to a customer, and every one of them made the visit.
